P2532-RT

Cannabinoids and terpenes in hemp (cannabis)

Plant material of industrial hemp with a THC content of < 0.3 % can be handled within the EU without further restrictions. The THC content must be quantified to ensure compliance with the maximum level. Terpenes in cannabis are said to boost the therapeutic effect of the cannabinoids due to the "entourage effect" and are used for the identification of different strains of the cannabis plant.

P2532-RT is focussed on the quantification of cannabinoids in hemp. The quantification of terpenes, which are relevant for hemp, is offered as an additional module.

A homogenate of fresh hemp leaves (< 0.3 % THC) is provided as test material. The material contains a selection of the cannabinoids and terpenes mentioned below. Cannabinoids and terpenes in the material might either be endogenous or spiked to the material. The corresponding unspiked material is provided as blank material upon request. The blank material might contain endogenous levels of cannabinoids and/or terpenes.

The analytical data are assessed with respect to

  • the correct identification of the spiked cannabinoids and terpenes,
  • the comparability (z-score), and
  • the trueness (70 to 120% of the spiked level).
