P2538-RT is designed for the quantification of organic contaminants in the leaching of soil by GC-MS methods e.g. F15, F27, F37 and F39 according to the German Substitute Building Materials Ordinance (EBV). This ordinance regulates the recycling of substitute building materials, especially for the use in construction. The leaching analysis simulates the effect of leaching of contaminants from the substitute building material into the groundwater due to rain.
An eluate from the leaching of soil (2:1, filtrated) is provided as test material.
The eluate is spiked with a selection of organic contaminants from the categories
- phenols,
- chlorobenzenes,
- chlorophenols,
- polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and
- polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs).
The participants are requested to report the individual parameters as well the sums according to EBV (see scope below). LOQs of lower than 1/3 of the lowest threshold of the sum of the substances are required according to EBV, annex 5. The spiked levels are in the range of ng/l - low µg/l.
In addition to the analytical results, the participants are asked to specify the applied analytical methods. The EBV allows for the application of different analytical methods if their comparability is proven.
The analytical data are assessed with respect to
- the correct identification of the spiked contaminants,
- the comparability (z-score), and
- the trueness (70 to 120% of the spiked level, as far as applicable).
This ring test is not included in the scope of our accreditation yet. Independent from our scope of accreditation, all ring tests are organised and performed in accordance with the requirements of DIN EN ISO/IEC 17043:2023.
